First Family Pumpkin Carving

Daddy is ALL about pumpkin carving!  Crazy to believe that until they were married, Mama had never carved a single pumpkin in her life.  So we were all so thankful that Daddy made it home in time for us to all participate in this fun Halloween tradition.

Lexie was excited for her first ever "pun-tin" carving!

So much so that she could barely contain herself :-)

She made sure to tell me to get ready....we NEED documentation of this!

First things first, we need to unpack the tools and select a design.

Next, Daddy removes the top of the pumpkin while Lexie inspects it to see which side is best for carving.

"Der' it is!"

Daddy began removing the pumpkin "gunk" while Lexie supervised.  He offered to let her assist....

She quickly informed "no, no, no!"

"YUCK!"  This girl doesn't do pumpkin gunk :-)

Well, maybe with a scooper.

But it's also lots of fun just to watch.

Gunk isn't that bad, when you have scoopers.

No worries, folks...there's a scooper in that hand!

Gotta love the teamwork.

Yes, it's true...she is "FA-BOO-LOUS"

Hey, if the shirt fits....

Now, time to get started with the real fun.

Daddy traced the outline for the eyes.

And Lexie assisted with the carving, using the new special pumpkin carving tool we purchased.

Daddy's a good teacher.

But it's more fun to carve while snuggled close.

Sweet looks.

Big help.

Such concentration!

Even Mama got in on the carving action.

Of course, sweet pics were involved.

And sweet kisses.

Enough kisses, it's time for BUSINESS!

With Lexie's help, we selected and completed the mouth.

So, what do you think?  Now, where should we put it?

I think this is the PERFECT spot for our "pun-tin"

Yep, that's it!

Daddy did the honors.

And now for the moment you've all been waiting for...

Ta-Da!

I know, I did a great job :-)

We returned inside to find we had an intruder!

Daddy asked Lexie if she would like to "pet" the lizard.  She answered with a high-pitched shriek and throwing herself against the wall...that's my girl, we don't do bugs, lizards, frogs, etc.

This lizard obviously knows how WONDERFUL our Daddy is because he refused to let him go.  It took lots of coaxing (and hand-flicking) before Daddy finally got him off his finger.  What can we say, our Daddy ROCKS!
