Lexie's New "BIG GIRL" Bedroom

During the Christmas holidays, we decided to take on a new household project...inspired by the fact that Lexie's toys had taken over almost EVERY room in the house!  Lexie was never a fan of the crib, in all honestly, she barely slept in it at all, and even when she didn't it wasn't the "good" quality sleep she needed.  So about six months back, when she began chewing on the railings, we converted it from crib to toddler bed and it really helped, she started sleeping in her bed and all through the night.  A few weeks before Christmas vacation, I came up with a new idea....transition her room into a "big girl" room and transform the guest room into a playroom.  Boy, was it easier than it sounded!  After weeks of a disastrous and trying to find a place for all the old items, we are finally ALMOST complete!  Lexie loves both of her new rooms, and understands the difference between the room she sleeps in and the room she plays in.  And it's helping keep the rest of our house MUCH cleaner :-)

So, here are some pics of her new bedroom, which is ballerina themed.  I first thought about this them because of Lexie's new love for dancing.  Gone are the days when "Mel-mo or TV?" are the first things she says when getting in the car, now she asks...."Mama, dance?!"  And we sing and car-dance all the way to our destination.  Then, I became inspired by a picture in Pottery Barn Kids (although I ended up using none of the items that originally caught my eye :-)

Pillows, pillows, pillows!  These are perfect for falling on when you're jumping on the bed!  And her bedside tables holds sweet pics of her with mama and daddy.

Full sized bed...the box springs have been removed to make it lower to the ground and although she can get up unassisted, she insists on using the stool to get in and out.

Finally a spot for the chair!  And a new soft and comfy rug :-)

I made the small pillowcase and transformed a plain bear into a "ballerina bear" to go with the room.

Her dresser now holds a small TV (which was our old computer monitor), a DVD/VCR combo and some sweet mementos.

Sweet ballerina prints over the chair.
We added a sweet tutu onesie to break up the curtain...we still have some work to do there.  And to the right of the window is a tutu bow holder I made along with a small round table.

The skirting from the round table is made from leftover sheets....yep, I was crafty in this room!  Complete with ballerina jewelry box (with interchangeable Tinkerbell figurine:-)

So crafty I made coordinating doll bedding...which Lexie ACTUALLY appreciates.  It's so funny to watch her press the music button on the jewelry box, walk over to the bed, pat her babies and say "Nite, nite!"

More ballerina prints...these are my favorite.  You may notice these are similar to the one on the round table, they were actually a set of four..........but in case you don't know the rule, you ALWAYS hang in odd numbers :-)

So this is ONE of Lexie's TWO new rooms.  It still has a few things to be added/changed, but it's at good point to share.

Stay tuned for "Princess Playroom" pics to come....................but not today :-)

Ruffles, Ruffles, Ruffles!

Lexie is ALL about ruffles :-)  We just love this sweet ruffle skirt and matching shirt from Delaney's Den....we're sure you will too!  Couldn't help but share these sweet pics of the little diva...
One little monkey...jumpin' on the bed :-)

It's MY seat!

Tippy-toes :-)

Delaney's Den Glamour Shots!

Great clothes can really make a girl feel special!  Thanks to Delaney's Den and Sheila for always making our princess look her best :-)

Christmas Eve-Eve Hayride and Fun!

What a special treat to have our very own PRIVATE horse and buggy ride to view Christmas lights on the night before Christmas Eve!

Lexie, you were adorable as always, decked out for the holidays and cool weather in this sweet snowman ensemble.

Before we left for the ride, you discovered the trampoline.

This trampoline had a light that flashed whenever you jumped inside the circle in the middle.

You had so much fun, we're considering getting you a miniature version for your birthday!

Quick family photo opp before the ride.

Lexie, you spent most of the ride up front, in the co-pilot seat with PawPaw.

Of course, you came back to the back for a little fun in the hay...

And fun with your parents, who love you so much!

Everyone was in the Christmas spirit.

We were excited to share this with Grammy and Ms. Billie (Ms. Billie is co-owner of the horses and buggy we rode in!)

You had such fun!

You couldn't stop giving kisses to all the boys...first PawPaw,

Then Daddy!

Daddy lifted you high so you play with the lights that decorated the top of the buggy.

And you and Daddy played LOTS of peek-a-boo!

Where's Daddy?

'Der he is!

Such a fun game...

Such a fun girl!

At the end of the ride, you tuckered out...but who could blame you, we were gone almost two whole hours!  And you were so good the entire time!  I have no doubt that you will be extremely intelligent.  You always have your eyes open, watching, observing, taking everything in....I can only imagine what goes on inside that pretty little head of yours!

We couldn't leave without a pic with PawPaw Loyd...he's very special to your Mama and is a truly wonderful person!

You were so sweet and appreciative of the ride, Lexie, that you couldn't wait to give him "thank you" hugs...

And kisses....sadly it was so dark it took the camera too long to fire and I missed the actual smooch-pic :-(

We all had such a good time on the ride, we hope to be able to do it again next year!

After a quick power-nap on the ride back to PawPaw and Grammy's, you were awake and HUNGRY!  While Grammy baked the pizza bread, I tied you over with something new.....

Cheeze Whiz....in a can!  Of course, I showed you the proper way to eat it!

It was hilarious!

You definitely approved of this new food...I think you ate half the can that night (and the other half the next day!)

It was so good you insisted I have some for myself :-)

Next you moved on to corn chips and cheese dip....you just love them!

You were sweet to share with all the Christmas animal adorning Grammy's fireplace.

Umm, umm GOOD!

The morning I graduated, your Daddy fixed us Mimosas....since then you have been FASCINATED by these fancy glasses.  You are such a big girl that I fixed you some plain OJ in one that morning and you fell in love with it.  So at Grammy's, we let you drink some milk out of it.  And your new princess table came with two similar plastic goblets, which you emphatically declare as "Milkkkk" (you have a very strong emphasis on the "k" sound that makes me smile every time you say it :-)

This picture is all you, baby girl....pretty, sweet, happy and silly.
We love you so much..........Merrry Christmas Eve-Eve!
